Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12) Gecko/20050920 Build Identifier: Thunderbird 1.5.0.4 (20060516) I have about 5 different mail accounts. I do want to have individual inboxes for all of these, but I don't want to have separate folders for Sent/Drafts/Trash. At the moment, I have 20 useless folders separating the inboxes from my saved mail in Local Folders. This is a bad thing because it clutters the UI, and makes it hard to access the most frequently used folders. Also, these unwanted folders cannot be deleted, nor moved out of the way. Reproducible: Always

you can tell to TB to use the Sent,Draft and Trash folder from "local folder" instead of individuals (copies and folder tab in each account settings) I don't know it this will delete the old folders, but maybe you can try a manual delete ... (backup before trying that :-)

Re #1, thanks for the tip - but it doesn't solve the problem. You can indeed get the mail to end up in the right folders, but you can't get rid of the (totally unused) sent/drafts/templates/deleted folders in the UI. My Left-pane now looks like: Account1 Inbox (used) Drafts (unused) Templates (unused) Sent (unused) Junk (used - but why can't this be global?) Deleted (used - but why can't this be global?) Account2 Inbox (used) Drafts (unused) Templates (unused) Sent (unused) Junk (used - but why can't this be global?) Deleted (used - but why can't this be global?) Account3 Inbox (used) Drafts (unused) Templates (unused) Sent (unused) Junk (used - but why can't this be global?) Deleted (used - but why can't this be global?) Account4 Inbox (used) Drafts (unused) Templates (unused) Sent (unused) Junk (used - but why can't this be global?) Deleted (used - but why can't this be global?) Account5 Inbox (used) Drafts (unused) Templates (unused) Sent (unused) Junk (used - but why can't this be global?) Deleted (used - but why can't this be global?) Local Folders Inbox (unused) Unsent Drafts Templetes Sent Deleted (ought to be global) Now, we get to the folders I most frequently access, which are never on the same part of the screen as the inboxes! A good workaround for this (and other) bugs would be to implement folder-re-ordering in the UI.

What you want is "Local folder for all ibox" config, but with one folder for each pop3 account. Why doesn't you config like that: All account to local folder (via account--> server settings --> advanced) and for each account, add a filter like this Account 1 --> filter sent all mails to Local Folder --> Inbox --> account 1 subfolder Account 2 --> filter sent all mails to Local Folder --> Inbox --> account 2 subfolder etc ... and then, you will have only this structure: local folder | Inbox | Account1 ... Account5 Sent Draft Junk Trash

Drafts, Templates, Sent, and Junk are all configurable, leaving only Trash. Even that is configurable because of bug 24064, but the UI to add it is marked as bug 182274. Therefore duping it to 182274
