I just tested in my current nightly of SeaMonkey, and did not crash with a new profile setting it to only load mailnews on startup, can you please test with a new build?

Exact reproduction instructions:

1. open profile manager
2. create new profile
3. set 'never ask again' option
4. load the profile
5. open mailnews
6. enter some bugs POP account details, making it go into the global inbox

at this point, the mailnews window becomes available with the following errors in the console:

7. open edit|preferences|appearance , choose to only load mailnews on startup
