It could be nice if you could make an entry in the addressbook as "my vcard" so 
that when you select attach vcard to mails the vcard for this addressbook entry 
is added. I hate having a vCard in the prefs like in 4.x.

The possibility to define an specific addressbook entry for each account as "my
vcard" along with the signature would be even nicer. In that way you can have
e.g. different vcards for your job and private.

latest nightly does add vcard as an address book entry but still gives no option to specify an existing card as vcard data source. This results in multiple entries in my address book. Editing the resulting contact in Address Book results in no vcard: if entry is edited, vcard defaults to a blank entry, and all data must be re-entered (creating yet another copy of my contact info in my address book...)

This bug has been open since 2000... it doesn't look like any action has been taken on it in 5 years, at least nothing reflected here. Still no option to mark address book entry as "My vCard" or even an option to select a specific address book entry per profile with an existing contact.

Especially as any edits to vCard in Address Book completely delete all fields in the selected vCard, this really should be fixed for TB3. It's a relatively minor issue, but a fairly visible one for anyone who uses vCards.

This isn't seen as a priority for Thunderbird developers at the moment, although any contributions would be welcome to be discus

This would also solve the issue of being able to attach images to contacts, but not to your own vCard. I was gonna create a separate issue for that, but this nearly two decade old issue will do fine. :)
