Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

The "Open With/Save to disk" dialog greys out the "OK" button when the dialog is not currently under focus. If one quickly focusses the dialog, and then selects the OK button, more often than not, nothing happens, and one has to wait until firefox wakes up and enabled the button before you can click it again. This happens even on fast machines that currently aren't bogged down in swap, but of course on a slow machine with memory pressure, I find this more often.

There seems to be no valid reason as to why the "OK" button is greyed out when the dialog has no focus, and the bug is very noticable in a focus follows mouse window manager, since the typical process is to invoke the dialog when wanting to download something, then mousing over to the OK button and selecting it -- in the process, only focussing the dialog a few hundreds of milliseconds before pressing the OK button. It could be worse in keyboard driven window managers in which there is no relation to what is in focus, and where the mouse currently is -- in that case you'd not be able to select the button at all without manually focussing the dialog.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Find a filetype that invokes the "open with/save to disk" dialog (eg, a pdf if you don't have adobe's **** installed)
2. Make the dialog lose focus without being covered up, and notice the OK button becomes greyed out
3. Try to click that OK button, and see if you can beat it before it is reenabled.

Actual Results:
Nothing happens - the button is greyed out

Expected Results:
Don't grey out the button gratuitously, and there'll not be a problem.

Can we get an option to disable this behaviour? The disabling of the OK button is completely useless in a focus follows mouse window manager. In the unix world, you can't rely on everyone using a click to focus window manager. For the rest of us, not only does this solution not work, it is unecessesary anyway, and only hinders normal operation.

Even on windows, you can force a status bar to be displayed, so you should at least give the user an option to explicitly disable this "feature" if they are capable of discerning a spoofed dialog from a real one.
