User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 History- several weeks ago I lost my bookmarks and search extensions; consequently, I reinstalled Firefox and have been working on rebuilding my bookmarks. When I went to organize them I found that I could not move the bookmarks to another folder. Before my problems and reinstall I could always manage the bookmarks. Also, I notice that there is no help or FAQ on how to manage bookmarks; maybe there is something that has changed and I am missing it. What I am doing is a cut and paste, since in the past that has worked. I cut the entry and highlight the folder where I want to place it, then right click to paste or use the Edit/paste method but the entry is placed above the folder and not inside it. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.tried edit method to cut and paste 2.used mouse left click to cut and paste 3.tried to move bookmark without using bookmark manager by right clicking on bookmark on list of bookmarks and cut/paste but the result is always the same. Actual Results: selected bookmark is moved but placed above the designated folder Expected Results: bookmark would be moved inside the designated folder having help provide how to information on mamageing bookmarks
Still happens with Firefox 2.0, Linux FC5/2.6.16, KDE 3.5.1 An old problem; I was told opening the folder before pasting into should help, but it doesn't. Disappointing that nobody fixes it.
When you want to organize bookmarks, you cannot paste to the folder, you must paste inside the folder, which is not intuitive. Then there is the other problem under "Manage Your Bookmarks" that you cannot paste into a folder that does not already have something in it! There is a way to do this but it is not intuitive or simple; it is to open the bookmark, then set the URL as a bookmark under the new folder! Seems to me that you should be able to cut and paste into the new folder.
