Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Thunderbird cannot hold a different encryption/signing certificate for each identity (as far as know). So I use the same certificate for both identities (this Thawte certificate holds both e-mail adresses) Mail encryption and signing works perfectly with the primary identity, but when mail is send from a secondary identity, Thunderbird wants to set up a new Personal Certificate but there is only place for one, and in this case only one is needed; Thunderbird refuses to send encrypted mail from the second identity. If I swap the 2 identies then it will encrypt from the other identity since it is now the primary. Can you please have a look at this? The multiple identities from Thunderbird is such a great feature, it would be great if it could also be used with encryption/signing certificates. Thanks. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create 2 identities 2. Import Signing and Encrytion Certificate wich holds both e-mail adresses 3. Send encrypted or signed mail from the first identity (works fine) 4. Send encrypted or signed mail from the second identity (doesn't work) Actual Results: Thunderbird will not send the encrypted mail but suggests to set up the certificate once more. Expected Results: It should use the certificate for the second identity like it does for the first. It would be even better if for every identity a separate certificate could be used.

You must set a signature for all identities. USe S/MIME the Security for Multiple Identities extension (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/8814).
