- Go to http://www.beatrijs.com/confrere.htm and in the middle column, select the second paragraph (from "Nu doet .." till "... kunnen?").
- Copy and paste this to a text input box like this additional comments box
- You'll see that nearly everything turns red
- Now go to the words 'Geachte heer', put your cursor between the r and the apostrophe, click and press the space key once
- When the same happens as here you'll see that the word "heer" is now free to add to the dictionary list, but you can also see that a lot of red suddenly disappears, and if not, push the back key again or repeat the last steps once

This happens very very often when I try to add Dutch words to the English dictionary and I have no idea if this is a bug. I have not yet seen it when I add Dutch words to the Dutch dictionary but I have not tried it very often.
Ah well, I see it in every language and every piece of text so it has nothing to do with it. The problem sounds now so familiar to be that it might be a dupe for I see it also in a 1 June build so this can't be a new problem.
You can simplify the test by just pasting your user agent string (or a URL) in the text box, then split a misspelled part with the cursor and type a space and then a backspace.
Which version are you using? Bug 339066 rewrote most of the word finding logic, so if you are using a build after that bug reports like that are not likely relevant. Looks like it landed on Branch on 5 July.

I did notice that it marked your quotes as part of the word. I didn't look, but are you using unusual flavors of quotes?

Just latest trunk.

I don't know. Copied text from average web sites.

I'm marking this as a dupe even though it is older because the other one has more info. I filed bug 346200 for the quotes problem.

There is still the underlines problem. When you manually correct a wrong word, all the underlines disappear and very often you can't get them back by clicking in the page. I understand that not everything can be fixed before 2.0 but it is a big problem.
I know, it's bug 346185.
