User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060719 Firefox/1.5.0.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060719 Firefox/1.5.0.5
Copies of forwarded emails are no longer auto-saved to the "Sent" folder since the auto-update release 1.5.0.5 was installed.
We are running Merak IMAP Server version 1.5.0.5 (20060719).
No other changes to user profile or Email server were made. Since the install of this Thunderbird release, forwarded emails are no longer saved to the sent folder as they were prior to the update. Newly created email messages or replies are correctly saved to the sent folder.
When forwarding an email, the send dialog indicates that it is "saving a copy to Sent.." but none is actually created.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Forward an email.
Actual Results:
Although account settings "Copies and Folders" is set to "When sending messages, automatically -> Place a copy in: Sent folder on < Account name >". A copy of forwarded messages does not get saved.
Expected Results:
Copy of all outgoing email should be saved to the sent folder, regardless of send method ( new, reply or forwarded message ).
Work-around is for end user to cc self on forwarded messages.

I'm seeing a similar behavior, please verify if it is the same:
If you forward or reply to an email, the email message does not appear in the IMAP sent folder. BUT, if you create a new email message and send it, both the forwarded/replied message appear (in fact it is shown as "unread"), as well as the new email message. It is like the sent folder is not being sent the "check for new email messages" message for a forward or a reply, but a new message works fine.

Did you have mail.check_all_imap_folders_for_new = TRUE set? I don't see such problems with latest 2.0.0.12

I did not have that value set. However, when I set that value, it did something weird with my IMAP folders - it made some "-1" folders of the same names (e.g. "sent-1" or "templates-1"), and required a reindexing even after they automagically renamed themselves appropriately (although the built-in folders like Sent are not being organized at the top, they are normally alphabetized). However, after making the change and restarting, if I reply to an email in the sent folder, it still does not show up in the sent folder until after creating a new message and sending.

That's really odd this settings nothing to do with name of folders, but check all folders for new as name suggest it.

Rebooting the client reorganized the folders properly. BTW, unlike the original creator of the ticket, I'm NOT saying that the messages are not being copied into the sent folder; only that the system does not show the sent messages until a separately created message is sent, OR a message is replied to in any folder except sent.

or, perhaps if you wait a few seconds and click "get new"?
I see something similar I think - my sent folder is my inbox. Some times the senet message doesn't appear right away. I don't know why, but I think it happens less frequently on faster PCs.
Not confirming because I don't understand the behavior myself, nor have time to check for dupes ATM

This WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090818 Shredder/3.0b4pre and a google powered imap server.
Wayne is this WFM on trunk/preb4 too ?

BTW, I still see this behavior on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.3pre) Gecko/20090819 Shredder/3.0b4pre, however as Wayne suggests, if I wait long enough (it took about 5 minutes, I have my mail set to check every 2), it will appear. However, switching folders from sent to inbox (which shows my forwarded message) and back to sent does not by itself show the sent message, which is odd because I thought clicking on a folder caused it to look for new messages.

Michael, if you still see this with version 3 final, can you find a duplicate it? if not older, then newer?
wada, what's up with the -1 folder name stuff?

Confirming still an issue (my subtype) with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100111 Thunderbird/3.0.1. If I forward an email from sent, and switch folders and back to sent, or get new messages, all result in no new forwarded message in sent. Waiting 20 minutes does not autopopulate the message, however moving out of the folder and back does show the message.

Ken, do you still see this?
