User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060719 Firefox/1.5.0.5 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060719 Firefox/1.5.0.5 This has been a problem for a long time, for many versions. The uninstaller from many Mozilla programs (Firefox, Thunderbird, Sunbird...) leaves behind files from the installation. I would like to see future uninstallers: (a) remove the program folder and all it's subfolders in "Program Files" (b) give the user the option to keep or remove the profile folder(s) Reproducible: Always
I believe the removal of profiles was wontfix in another bug. All files added by the installer are removed with the new installer used for 2.0. There are a couple of directories still left behind that I will be trying to fix.
Indeed: the optional removal of profile directories was WONTFIXed in bug 234680, I'm afraid.
(In reply to comment #1) > There are a couple of directories still left behind that I will > be trying to fix. Robert, would that be an application specific issue or a common installer issue? There are identical bugs files for Thunderbird and Sunbird: Bug 346341, Bug 346342.
Yes, I purposefully reported in all three programs. It happens in every Mozilla installer I know (and also many other installers, at that :)
For the NSIS installer leaving behind a couple of directories I filed bug 346351. I'm leaving this open since this bug was filed for 1.5.0.5.

adding product to the summary since comment 0s are identical
Summary: Uninstaller leaves behind files → Uninstaller leaves behind files [Firefox]
Robert, because we don't support Firefox 1.5 anymore I think this bug should be resolved as WONTFIX?
Henrik, in a similar bug mkaply requested that I not resolve it. I'm fine either way so I'm going to let the decision be made by him.
This doesn't affect the NSIS installer which has been in use since Firefox 2.0. Resolving -> WONTFIX as it applies to fixing this bug for Firefox 1.5 since that is what this bug is about.
