User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5; .NET CLR 2.0.50727) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.5 XpcomViewer/0.9 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.5) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/1.5.0.5 Since the June breakage, Software Update has not functioned correctly on firefox 1.5 branch nightlies. Neither partial, nor full updates are properly being recognized. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download and install a 1-day-old 1.5 nightly. 2. Change software update channel to "nightly" in prefs. 3. Run software update. Actual Results: Software update reports no new updates available. Expected Results: Software update should report that a new nightly update is available. After some investigation, I've determined that the problem lies with the AUS server. It isn't generating the nightly xml data required for Software Update to work correctly on the 1.5 builds. For example, if I enter the AUS url for my current build: https://aus2.mozilla.org/update/1/firefox/1.5.0.5/2006072804/WINNT_x86-msvc/en-US/nightly/update.xml All I get is: <?xml version="1.0"?> <updates> </updates> instead of the expected result as described by wiki.m.o. While irritating, the current workaround is to download the update and apply it manually.
