It rapidly went into a not responding state and I eventually ended it with ctrl-alt-del. The program then installed. Since then every time I wish to bring up Firefox, either from the desktop shortcut or from the Start Menu I get a delayfollowed by a box the says "A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped responding. You can Stop the script or you can continue to see if the script will Complete". The script never oompletes. When i stop the script Firefox comes up and works fine. I tried altering the sript run time to no avail. Presario Laptop c. Windows XP Sevice pack 2. HELP! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click on Firefox on desktop or start menu 2. 3. Actual Results: Get script message Expected Results: See above. Brought up firefox without the script message.
Does that also happen with disabled extensions or with a new profile?
You can disable extensions in Tools > Extensions (right-click > Disable) or by running Firefox in it's safe mode. Creating a new profile via the Profile Manager or by renaming your profile folder Mozilla. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode_(Firefox) http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder
Have you tried a re-install of the program?
(In reply to comment #3) > in a new clean directory?
Solved by a re-install.
