After monitoring file requsts, firefox.exe is looping through create/read/write requests in my Profile directory, focusing on prefs-1.js and prefs.js. It is very annoying and I'm not sure why it is doing it - I've even disabled disk cache (still leaving many hundred gigs of free RAM), but it still uses the hard drive all the time to do this. Is this reproducible with the latest firefox (1.5.0.6) If so, it is reproducible in firefox's safemode? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode
Also, bug 346520 suggests that google toolbar may cause such behaviour. If you have this installed, can you try disabling it and see if the problem still persists?
Hello; this happens without Google Toolbar installed. Also, I've verfied it happening on another computer after I copied over my profile directory. Is there a way I can provide more diagnosic information?
Firefox 1.5 no longer supported, and no feedback from the reporter as to whether firefox's safemode helped.. --> INCOMPLETE. Reporter, if you still have this problem with firefox 2.0 then pleaes reopen this bug. Thanks!
