Private compagnies use a lot of email to exchange data, reports, ..., but in general they don't have unlimited account up to 1Go or more.
It would be very usefull that users (or administrator) can specify the maximum size allowed for an email. It could be done by an internal variable, wich prevent the user for sending mail if its size is over the quota (for exemple, 5Mo).
Reproducible: Always
Actual Results:
You can send email for any size.
Expected Results:
You can specify the max size of a message, to avoid going beyond of quota.

That's is already done in the (outgoing) mail-server. If it has a limit, it will prevent Thunderbird from sending any file that is larger.

This is not the way that work my compagny, and if I believe the "General Grievous" (read the url linked), I am not alone. They use ZipMail to automaticely compress attachment end prevent them to be sent if the size ii upper than a limit of 3Mo. When I use thunderbird instead, I'am not limited with the size of email, so I must take care not to send large attachment.
But I am not an "expert" of this question. If you think they are wrong and that it is better to use the server's limit, I will close the bug.
