one question I have is about ebay. in the beta2 build it looks like the searches are pointed at search.ebay.com... Have we thought about pointing es-AR searches
at search.ebay.es?

http://www.ebay.com/ refers to http://www.mercadolibre.com.ar/ for Argentina in their footer. mercadolibre itself links back to eBay in their footer.
ebay.es does, too.
Marcelo, do you have any opinion on mercadolibre?

No one in Argentina visits ebay.es, so I decided to keep the original version.
But maybe Mercadolibre should work. That site has an agreement with eBay.
But this is a whole new search component.
There is an addon in http://mycroft.mozdev.org/quick/ebay.html and it's working.

Adding Mic to the loop here.
And, Yahoo should not have suggest enabled.

if we are going to add mercadolibre we problably need it add it in the next day or two since the lockdown for RC1 is coming. sounds like we need.
-confirmation from marcelo's testing that the plugin looks good and will be useful for es-ar users.
-contact info, and some indication from mercadolibre that they are ok with firefox traffic being directed to their site, or find some terms of service on the site that will make us feel confortable that we aren't in violation of any branding, trademark, or term of use.

i found http://www.mercadolibre.com.ar/org-img/html/MLA/seguro_terminos.html
reviewing with a bablefish translation as a spot check...
a couple of things raise questions... maybe it is too late to get these issues reviewed and resolved.
section 2.
"...but MercadoLibre does not take responsibility by the certainty of the Personal Data provided by its Users. The Users guarantee and respond, in any case, of the veracity, exactitude, use and authenticity of the entered Personal Data."
if this means they aren't responsible for the protection of user data there
might be some conflicts with the privacy policy... this should be looked at closer...
section 15.Intellectual property. Connections
we need to make sure that no modification are made to their marks for things like the icon that is displayed in the search dropdown list...
there is other stuff there that didn't translate well and needs review...

Marcelo,
from what i understand mercadolibre was not in FF1.5 for Argentina.
MercadoLivre was used in Brazil (Portuguese), I don't know if the sites are the same but you can check out bug number #347925 for more information. If they are the same, then by all means use the existing code. If they are not the same then my suggestion would be to hold off until we're able to confirm with Mercadolibre that they are OK to receive our traffic. I would worry that without notifying them we might overwhelm their servers.
Please advise your thoughts.
thanks
Mic

Mic, the mercadolibre plug-in is currently in cvs and built. See
http://lxr.mozilla.org/l10n-mozilla1.8/source/es-AR/browser/searchplugins.
If that's a problem, the least invasive way to go would be to remove it from list.txt until we have an approval, that'd be a one line change.

I've received authorization from mercadolibre.
"Martin Gallone" <gallomar@mercadolibre.com>, Marketing Manager, approved the inclusion.
