User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060810 Camino/1.0+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.1b1) Gecko/20060810 Camino/1.0+ Windows Live Mail supports Firefox 1.5+ on the OSX platform, but does not support Camino (this in an issue with their detection script for the agent string looking for the Firefox version rather than the Gecko layout engine.) I have filed a bug with Microsoft on this issue to get them to update their detection script, but I thought that a possible feature for Camino would be to 'simulate' Firefox in the agent string similarly to Operas capabilities. Since both systems assimilate the same layout engine, they should be compatible. This could be an advanced preference. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Visit mail.live.com Actual Results: Site claims not to be capable of supporting Camino, despite the fact that it is supportive of Firefox 1.5+ Expected Results: Site should be able to support Camino as both Firefox and Camino share the same engine.

There is already a way for advanced users to change their user agent; it's never going to become a standard preference since the vast majority of users don't understand user agents.

Furthermore, this is Microsoft's problem, not Camino's, as you note. Implementing features in a browser to work around (possibly intentional) bugs in a site is not the right way to go about things. The proper way to address this is what you're already doing -- telling Microsoft their site is broken, and that they should be sniffing for Gecko revision rather than user-agent name.

I'm going to kick this over to TE, since that's where it really belongs.

I can confirm that adding Firefox to Camino's UA loads the "full" version of the site instead of the "classic" version.
