User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:220.127.116.11) Gecko/20060728 Firefox/18.104.22.168 Build Identifier: version 22.214.171.124 (20060719) I have set up 2 different email accounts under the one profile, with only one account set to retrieve mail (I have only 1 user name with my ISP so I have no choice here), and a mail filter to filter incoming amail in to different inboxes. When I select the Inbox of the account created 2nd and compose an email, the relpy to address is correct, but if I reply to an email that has been filtered in this inbox, the reply to address is wrong - the one that appears is that for the account created 1st. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Reply to an amail that has been filtered in to the 2nd mail account inbox. 2. 3. Actual Results: The reply-to address for the account created first is used. Expected Results: The reply-to address for the inbox the mail was in should be used. Re installing V1.0.8 (without making any setting changes), and the reply to address when replying to emails is always correct.
(In reply to comment #0) > When I select the Inbox of the account created 2nd and compose an > email, the relpy to address is correct, but if I reply to an email that has > been filtered in this inbox, the reply to address is wrong It's been filtered to Inbox#2? So the message was originally destined for account#1? When Moz processes a reply, it looks at the To: field of the original message to choose which identity the reply will be From; and the 'Reply-To' is an attribute of the identity.
This bug is still present on the 126.96.36.199 installation that I have. From my "2nd"account", "write" always produces the correct reply-to address, but "reply" always produces the wrong reply-to address (i.e. the reply-to address of my "1st"account. I have not updated the bug status as out of the options fixed, invalid, wontfix of worksforme, non of them seem valid.
(In reply to comment #1) > When Moz processes a reply, it looks at the To: field of the original message To Mike Cowperthwaite: Is choosing of account/identity from "To: address in the mail" already implemented? As far as I know, Moz currently looks X-Account-Key: header(account who downloaded the mail. Introduced by "Global Inbox" support) to choose account for reply, then uses main identity of the chosen account. See Bug 327713. (In reply to comment #2) To Paul Ackroyd(bug opener): (1) What value is set in X-Account-Key: header of mails in second account? In your case, it's usually account number of first defined account. (2) Change "From:" address thru drop down menu, and save as "Draft", then see mail source. Which From:/Reply-To: is set? Two Reply-To: headers? Or only one and expected Reply-To: header?
Answer 1 = "account2" (but see below - this answer was with things working as expected). Answer 2 = I can't find a "from" drop down box, but there is only 1 "reply to" line present. WORKAROUND/SOLUTION In order to get things to work as expected:- 1 - with the 1st account selected in the LHS of the "Tools > Account Settings" box add another identity tha corresponds to the name & email addresses of the 2nd account (removing / adding this info makes problem appear / function as expected). 2 - repeat the above with the 2nd account selected (this info is present now so I'm not sure if it is needed or not). This was missed as when I upgraded from V1.0.8 to V188.8.131.52 I was not aware that extra identity info needed to be present to keep both "reply to addresses" correct. SUMMARY I think that this is a "lack of user knowledge" problem as there is a way of getting things to fully work, but the way of doing so was not obvious to me when Thunderbird was upgraded.
