The pane which displays header information in Thunderbird is way too bright and lacks padding around it which causes it to be misidentified as part of a message you are reading.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Read a message in Thunderbird

Actual Results:  
There is no padding around it.

Expected Results:  
It should be some kind of colour which does not match with the rest of the message or have some kind of padding around it.

Trivial as all heck but it really is way too bright and such.  I was reading a message today from bugzilla in trunk and confused the header pane for part of the message.

This also affects branch as well because I assume the visual style in trunk will land on branch soon.

I'm afraid I don't understand this bug.  You're talking about the envelope panel at the top of the message pane, right?  I don't see any color differences between the new theme and the previous one.  The panel has the Windows "3D object" color (just like the toolbars etc) and the message background color is as specified under Options|Display|Formatting in the "HTML Messages" color section (that color is used for plain text messages too, the option is poorly labeled -- bug 283268).

Could you take a screenshot and annotate it?  Attach the screenshot using the Create New Attachment link above.

By the way: It's possible for you to customize the styling -- colors and padding and such -- on this panel as you see fit.  You just need to add styling rules to userChrome.css (in your profile's chrome directory).  The hard part is finding out the classnames and ids of the various elements in the panel.  The DOM Inspector extension will help, but at the moment you need to run TB 1.5 to use it (or tweak the extension to get it to work in 2a1 -- see bug 254031.)
