* Go to: http://www.flickr.com/photo_zoom.gne?id=72151095&size=l
* Right-click image and choose "Save Image As ..."
* A download dialog box appears and shows "72151095_cd767ecc1b_b.jpg"
* Change this to "F/A-22.jpg" (the name of the plane) and click "Save"
* The download dialog box disappears, NO download takes place, Firefox' "Downloads" window does NOT open, when opening it by pressing APPLE-J it is empty, at the download destination NO file was saved
Reproducible: Always
Expected Results:
Download "F/A-22.jpg" to disk OR giving me an error message, why this is not possible. If I click "Save" and it appears to being saved but in reality it is not, I suffer massive data loss.

/ and : are not allowed in filenames on Mac OS X (/ is used as a separator on UFS, : on HFS+).
To avoid problems, you're not able to type them in Firefox 2.0 (you hear a beep). Sorry, I can't find back the bug right now where this was discussed.

This bug was actually reported earlier, https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317290
But either way, it is fixable as the previous poster indicated.

This bug was inappropriately closed and nothing has been fixed. You can type / in the name and the file does not get saved.
Bug https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=317290 is now open and supersedes this report.

Yes, it was inappropriately WONTFIXED, however, now it is proper since the 1.5 branch is no longer supported.
Version: unspecified → 1.5.0.x Branch
