Visit cnnsi.com by typing the address into the toolbar.  Using Cmd-H open the History sidebar.  See the entry for cnnsi.com.  Try to search for this site using the History search box.  The cnnsi entry is not found.

Same behavior for the site espn.com

Places (trunk) does what you want (searches URLs) but it causes other problems. This bug is exactly the opposite of bug 328098.
