349325 - Ability to update firefox using mar file loaded from File > Open File

A small enhancement request.

I would like to be able to download a .mar file and 'manually' update firefox by opening said .mar file from Firefox's File > Open File menu.

Currently if you download a .mar file, you can apply it manually, but it involves some shenanigans:

Admittedly, the ability to update with a .mar file via File > Open File would be little used by the majority of people; but occasionally it might prove useful, for either testing or for when the update system fails or goes funny.

Does this open firefox to any security issues if an installer is run within the browser via an app that's from an appropriate server? I kinda feel like this is opening a can of worms and might not be worth the implementation.
