Spun-off from bug 341949. One option is to lay out the checkboxes in two columns.
OS: Mac OS X 10.3 → All
Hardware: Macintosh → All
This may not be trivial to do, but I think it would be worth it, not only because it's less likely that text gets cut off, but it also would look much better to not have such a big empty space in that groupbox at the top.

Stefan, how much is this still true on trunk?
Well, since this is about eliminating the risk of startup options breaking the pane and it's possible to overlay a bunch of additional items, it's still true. But the pane isn't cut-of atm (mac classic).
Hmm, it can never be eliminated completely, unless we hide it in a popup or so, the risk can only be reduced. And I think the risk is currently reduced enough that a bit can be added/overlayed there, right?
I'm fine with closing this as wontfix, since comment #1 indicates that it's not trivial and I don't think it's worth the effort.
OK, let's make it WONTFIX then, as nobody objected in a month :)
