Since the very first release of Firefox I used, text rendered by the <pre> tag has always been unreadable at normal font size. Copying into a rich-text editor seems to show that the font used is courrier new, however it seems to use a very crunchy version of the font.

Using a zoom tool on the rendered text shows clearly that the font is extremely compact, with certain letters almost appearing as a spot, much smaller than normal text (my text size setting is at normal) and basically unreadable on a large display without increasing text size.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Render any text with the <pre> tag
2. Squint your eyes to try and make out what is written
3.

Actual Results:  
Text is very crunchy, unreadable on a 19" screen at 1280x1024. I may not have the best vision, but I can read much smaller text size on normal fonts without any problems.

Expected Results:  
Font should be much clearer, preferrably slightly larger.

What is your font settings?  Could you take a screenshot of the dialog:
Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> Fonts -> Advanced
and attach it to the bug report please?
A screenshot of "Testcase" would help also.

It appears to be simply Courrier New text set on <pre> tag with decreased font size. Creating a simple test (attached) pretty much confirms that Courrier New text at, and below, 10px is difficult to read.

This is, however, a font rendering problem, not related to Firefox.

My mistake.

IE7 is anti-aliasing but Firefox isn't as far as I can tell. Not sure if it's
intentional or not...
