Hi,

  On an imap account, we have a test box with 4000 mails, 800 folders and subfolders.
  In this imap box, the deep subfolders (the 13th and after) don't show in main window. Nevertheless, we see them perfectly on susbscription folders window.


With same Thunderbird version on Linux, folder view works fine. With Outlook, KMail or evolution it's fine.

Perhaps a link with this bug ?

We tried Thunderbird 2.0Alpha1 we get the same result.

N.B : 2 different imap servers has been tested, courier-imap and dovecot.

yes, same cause as bug 332119 - you can try changing the local directory path under account settings | server settings for the imap server - change it to a directory with a shorter path, e.g., c:\imap - if you have filters, you'd need to move those by hand, I think.

But it seems impossible to correct. It's due to the 256byte limited path of QDOS. It's a slavery of windows from his past. I have watched a lot of mozilla  code, the only way to correct this is to put the mail in a database backend instead the fs. But I don't think of this as an option.

The other way is to put a warning message which explain what to do, and to wait for winFS. It won't be solved before this, no ?

since this is an OS limitation, a relnote is the most that can be done (but perhaps not warranted), right?

Removing relnote keyword from bugs that are no longer significant or not needing to be mentioned in the release notes.
