Noticed this when moving some mail from another computer by way of a zip file. Not sure how it got read-only, but un-marking read-only fixed it.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open a local folder, so the .msf file is created.
2. Exit Thunderbird and mark the msf read-only. (You may have to make some change to the mailbox file also, I'm not sure.)
3. Reopen Thunderbird and open the folder.
Actual Results:
Hangs on "Reading summary file for (xxx)..." (not a hard app hang, just the folder never opens)
Expected Results:
Remove the conflicting/read-only msf file and recreate it
Not serious, and shouldn't happen in normal course of operation, but this could be the cause lurking behind a lot of the other bugs about summary files.

if a file is read only, can you delete it?
> if a file is read only, can you delete it?
Thunderbird, as a program, can delete it (making it "read/write" if it is necessary).
If Thunderbird hangs because of little problems, soluble like this, making tricky questions won't solve the bug.
