Dear Sirs,

We have found some months ago, that THUNDERBIRD sometimes(once per day) jumps out(when selecting a new view, f.ex.) with error message:

THUNDERBIRD has caused an error in JS3250.DLL-module. THUNDERBIRD will be closed.

Our Operating system is WINDOWS ME and we have NORTON SYSTEMWORKS installed.

Pls. advice !

Best regards,

Oy Ekso Ab

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1.The error happens irregularly - but mostly, when you switch between different folders; f.ex from sent to inbox or vice versa
2.
3.

Actual Results:
THURDERBIRD 1.5.0.6 logs out

Expected Results:
We have to relog again - and again 1-3 times per day !

THUNDERBIRD should NOT log out when switching between the folders, which we have to make all the time !
We probably need talkback ids to figure out what happened. (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Talkback)
No Talkback ID´s recorded since 7.6.2006 !

Sometimes Thunderbird "kicks" you out completely(when changing folder; from inbox to sent or vice verca) with WINDOWS ERROR MESSAGE:
ERROR: OE: 0028:C0058739

Some advice ?

Best regards,
Ëkso/J.Paavola
I think you may want to

- try running thunderbird in -safe-mode (without any extensions)
- try latest branch builds for 1.5.0.7 [1] and/or 2.0a1 [2], the problem may be fixed.
- create a fresh profile (if it works, you can of course copy over your old data)

[2] http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/

Thanks mkmelin,

1)No extensions in use !
- When lookeed, box includes a message:
Talkback 1.5
taken out of use - uncombatible with Thunderbird 1.5.0.5

So coming back - how could we have any Talkback ID´s, if "Talkback" has been inactivated because of uncombatibility ??

Some advice ?

Thanks,

Ekso/J.Paavola
I don't know why it's "taken out of use", maybe it was disabled in some upgrade(?) If you reinstall thunderbird, and choose a custom install you can make sure to include Talkback. Then it should be working.
Dear Mr. Melin,

Custom reinstallation Thunderbird 1.5.0.5 (latest version available) don´t allow to touch "Feedback-extension", which is marked as Grey-colour.
Therefore we are not sure, if this option is selected or not !?
Pls. comment !

Thanks/Best regards,

Ekso/J.Paavola
Hello again,

After custom reinstallation (feedback-component "dashed" as default)opening extensions announces again (in box):

EXTENSIONS

Disabled - uncombatible with Thunderbird 1.5.0.5

So SUMMA SUMMARUM: Installer dooesn´t allow to install Feedback component=Talkback 1.5 !

What to do ?

Best regards,

Ekso/J.Paavola
Have you installed into an empty folder?
Thanks !

Installation folder was the same folder, where Thunderbird already exists as default !

Should we try to install it to a new folder ?

Best regards,

Ekso/J.Paavola
Yes:)
Usually it should not matter, but sometimes something may still be left there causing problems.
Thanks !

We have now reinstalled Thuderbird 1.5.0.5 to a new folder with "Feedback-Component"=Talkback 1.5.0.5 succesfully.
It seems now that, Talkback is now reactivated and obviously collecting Talkback ID´s again !
We´ll now follow this and report the results.

Best regards,

Ekso/J.Paavola

PS. When started this new Thunderbird, the program asked: would you like to set Thunderbird to your default browser (which old one already was!)
We answered YES of course !
Hello All !

We have followed the operation of THUNDERBIRD abt. three days now after reinstallation of 1.5.0.5-version.
Crashing still happens, but TALBACK reports abt. every 2nd time this by opening the query-icon to mozilla.org. This happened today abt. 10:00 GWT. Did you received it ?
We have also checked FIREFOX-extension box, which includes abnormalities as well:
- 1) Talkback 1.5.0.1 disabled uncombatible with Firefox 1.5.0.6
- 2) Yahoo toolbar 1.1.0 20060206, new version ...
- 3) WhenU helps installation of new programs ...
As we know we have never installed WhenU-program (???) and we don´t know what that is; therefore we have now removed it from via extension toolbar

Do you think, that we should reinstall FIREFOX to a new folder to get Talkback to work ?

In time between we have also checked Talkback in some other our computers and we have found, that Talkback is disabled as well ! - Therefore we believe, that some automatic updates probably have included some errors to cumulate this disabling/uncorrect updates with effect of Talkback no-update/disable.

Waiting for your comments,

Best regards,

Oy Ekso Ab

Hello All !

Thank you for older Talkback ID´s sent !
We also reinstalled latest version of Firefox to a new folder, and now Talkback + "DOM Instector" (?) are activated.
This however has no influence to crashing phenomen of Thunderbird !! - This happens still abt. twice a day - do you get these Talkback ID´s ?

All the other software (except Thunderbird) works without any errors !

What next ?

Ekso/J.Paavola

is what i'd request, unfortunately you'll need either a debug-seamonkey or debug-thunderbird, and i'm not sure if anyone has one, perhaps mcsmurf can provide.
I'd like to repost his error as well.
On two different machines with 2 different Thunderbird versions (1.5.0.10 / 2.0.beta2).
It happens mostly when deleting a message and thunderbid selects the next message to display. Server info (because I think it's server related because i've got it on two different version on two different systems) Fedora linux, IMAP server.
Will enable talkback now to see if I could reproduce some traces.
Well, I opened my mail today and had three crashes in one minute; incident ID's
TB30758225M
TB30758206M
TB30758182X

Okay chaps, last update for me I guess. I found this bug report on bugzilla: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=334263 at the end of the thread someone mentions the utillity allChars which I have installed as well. The crashes seem to be related to version 3.6.2 of allChars. I upgraded with the allChars patch to version 3.6.3 and pray that the issue goes away.
Download page for the allChars program and patch: http://allchars.zwolnet.com/download/program.html (or try version 4 since allChars is open sourced)
thanks
