Good Morning, Mozilla Firefox developers i have a problem when i use the feature save and i have to use IE explorer instead...
Problem 1: Mozilla can read .txt files like IE Explorer, but i can't save this files in .html format, in IE explorer i save those .txt files as .html files, i use it for quick editing, or saving plain text format as .html and then use Dreamweaver or another editor.
Problem 2: This problem is worst. When i see a home page in an diferent lenguage like spanish or other i can't save it in the correct character codification. I can read the correct contect from the page using the option View - character codification - Unicode (UTF - 8), but i can`t save the page with this code and i have to use IE explorer because i can select the correct codification type when i save with IE. This feature is missed in FIREFOX.
You should try to reproduce this problem, visit some spanish pages like:
http://www.netveloper.com/contenido2.aspx?IDC=66_0&IDP=3&P=64
and you will se the problems that i have with characters like ñ,á,é...
Please solve this soon..
Thank you very much
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Visit a home page with a special codification
2.Manualy change the codification in View-character codification
3.Save the page to the hard disk
Actual Results:
When you try to see the page saved in the hard disk, the characters are unreadable and you have to change manually the special codification
Expected Results:
Well i know that firefox isn´t a html editor, but i have problems when i see a web page with a special codification or in other lenguage an i want to save it, firefox need to add the option to choose the unicode while sqaving, in this way i colud see the webpages in the correct form in my computer...

one bug per issue please. I think both of these are dupes though.

It´s right these are two problems related to the same SAVE option. In both cases the save feature is not present, could be behaviors of the same lake of feature. This bug was created 3 years ago, I won´t create a new bug track to be opened in 3 years.

This bug was reported on Firefox 2.x or older, which is no longer supported and will not be receiving any more updates. I strongly suggest that you update to Firefox 3.6.3 or later, update your plugins (flash, adobe, etc.), and retest in a new profile. If you still see the issue with the updated Firefox, please post here. Otherwise, please close as RESOLVED > WORKSFORME

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.x or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.

OK. I retested these issues in Firefox 3.6.3 and here are the results:
1. Problem 1: Mozilla can read .txt files like IE Explorer, but i can't save this files in .html format, in IE explorer i save those .txt files as .html files.
Results: Using Firefox 3.6.3 I still can´t see any option to save a .txt page as a .html file, bug unresolved.
2. Problem 2: When i see a home page in an different language like spanish or other i can't save it in the correct character codification. I can read the correct contect from the page using the option View - character codification - Unicode (UTF - 8), but i can`t save the page with this code and i have to use IE explorer because i can select the correct codification type when i save with IE. This feature is missed in FIREFOX.
Results: Using Firefox 3.6.3 I still can´t see any option to save the page in a different character coding, BUT Now Firefox 3.6.x version saves the page in the correct character encoding, If I choose the right one previously, for example I use View - character codification - Unicode (UTF - 8), to see a spanish page then this page is saved in that character encoding, the selection at save time seems unnecessary now.
As the second and more important issue is resolved (not new save options were added but Firefox 3.6.x use the right character coding to save the page) and I reported two bugs in the same bug track, I will mark this bug as solved. But I´ll add a new track for the first issue.
Thank you for reply
