Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060831 Thunderbird/2.0a1 Mnenhy/0.7.4.0 ID:2006091707

Using IMAP and deleting an attachment of a message resets its status. Status like "Forwarded", "Replied" get lost. It doesn't appear for POP3 or Local Folders.

Does that occur while we are creating a new message and don't set the message status?

I mark it as dataloss because I can't see if I already have replied, forwarded etc. a message.
not good in business environment.
any relation to bug 340886?

Wayne, thanks for remembering this bug report. I tried with version 3.0a1pre (2007073104) and it still exists.

Because it's a dataloss bug I ask for blocking Thunderbird 3. David, do we miss a simple copy of the status to the newly created message?

Henrik, is it possible that your server doesn't store the FORWARDED flag persistently?
cuz I tested this, and saw in the protocol log that we are storing the FORWARDED flag on the imap server for the new copy of the message.
David, it's an Exchange 2003 Server. I've no idea how to fetch this information. What should I ask our administrator? I think it will be a default installation which will be done by most companies.
if you get a protocol log, does the server support user-defined keywords, or $Forwarded flag? My guess is no...
(I'm getting ahead of things I know, but) if TB were be conservative prior to, in this case, deleting attachments...

are a server's capabilities cached at login, such that it can be queried without always having to query the server?
or should that not be relied upon?

Henrik, does this still affect you?

If it does, could you get a protocol log so that David can have a look at it? (https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Logging if you don't already know how).

Yes, and I've send a message with the log file attached to David. I haven't attached it to the bug because there is some sensitive data inside.
from the log, I don't see that the message you detached an attachment from had any status flags like replied/forwarded set at all, originally, so we didn't have any flags to maintain. Your server does remember flags like answered, but not forwarded.
minusing...this has been improved somewhat, but we won't block for the remaining work. We'd like to see this fixed, however.

Henrik, please retest to see that this is gone. probably fixed by bug 340886 in 3.0b3
