"BA" is the country code for Bosnia and Herzegovina, the ISO-639-1 code for the Bosnian language is actually "bs".

You should also specify the script, i.e. Latin or Cyrillic.

We had a Bosnian team some time ago, but they were only doing Mozilla Suite, but it looks like that team went defunct.

Yes, I would like to localize Firefox, and maybe later Thunderbird too, into bosnian language. I would appreciate if someone would send me an email with more info on how to translate Firefox into some language

If there are missing pieces in the documents, or things aren't clear, please feel free to ask.
So, can I be assigned to do bs-BA localization ? Set me as the owner of this localizatio, so that I can start working on it.
Just create http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:bs with contact information and details and that will make sure that folks wanting to help will find you. The current state of http://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Teams:lv seems to be a good one for a new localization. Make sure that you have the page in the L10n_Teams category with a 
<noinclude>[[category:L10n Teams|bs]]</noinclude>
at the end of your page.

We'll make an 'ownership' decision once we had a chance to do a technical review of your work. Until then, we just keep things lightweight.

Would you recommend me some tool for localization work ? I see there are few of them, but don't know which one is the best...
One more question (I'm a newbie here, so I have to ask). I've seen those tutorials here, but they seem to be done for linux platforms. Is there any tutorial for Windows platform ? I remind you once more that I'm a newbie here...
Kerim, I'm afraid that most of our stuff assumes a unix-ish backbone. The good news is, for users of windows, we have all that you need in a single installable bundle, called MozillaBuild. More for that on http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Windows_Build_Prerequisites#MozillaBuild, and do ignore the compiler part before that, you don't need that.

For tools, that really depends on your technical skills, I suggest that you introduce yourself and your background in the mozilla.dev.l10n newsgroup, available on news, mailing list and google groups, details on http://www.mozilla.org/community/developer-forums.html#dev-l10n. Stopping that serpent of a sentence there. Just ask out there for tips.

http://developer.mozilla.org/en/docs/Creating_en-X-dude has a document that doesn't go into much depth on the tool side, but it should talk you through most of the technical stuff by example. If you have further questions, head out to the newsgroup, or join us on #l10n on irc.mozilla.org.
I must report an accident I recently had : my HDD crushed, and all translation work I did is now lost :( I have to start it all over again...and this time have a backup somewhere !!

Can we start a new BUG on Bosnian localization and delete this one ?
Ouch, that sucks, sorry to hear about your HDD crash.

I'm not sure though what good we should get from a new bug, though. There's really no affiliation between the person that filed a bug and the one that resolves it in the end. There is value in keeping the bug to show how things evolved, though.

Let's just stick to this one.
Hi Axel, since that Firefox 3 is on its way to be published, tell me how can I localize version 3 ?
The only difference is the branch of en-US to use, for Firefox 3, use the trunk. I have updated the MDC en-X-dude page for that, too.

If you have already a tree that you want to migrate over, do a 

cvs update -r HEAD client.mk

and then call into client.mk's l10-checkout as usual. That will check out all the other files from trunk then.

Thank you for all of your work toward localizing Firefox.  We're at the unique point of determining if you should localize for Firefox 3 or move onto localizing for Firefox 3.1, depending on your availability and interest.

If you are interested in working on *something* that is stable, you can continue to focus on localizing Firefox 3.  We can get stable builds going for you.  However, we will eventually ship your work in Firefox 3.1 and you will need to update the effort you are putting into Firefox 3 right now.  The good news is that the string changes from Fx 3 --> Fx 3.1 are presently small in number (~30), so the update should not be too much too handle.  

However, if you are interested in moving your effort toward localizing Firefox 3.1, then you can read the following documentation on working with Mercurial and getting a local environment set up on your machine.

Well, there was no need for this bug. And as far as the localization is concerned, it is almost done. Hopefully we'll have Firefox 3.5 localized on time ;)
Kerim, is there a way to track that progress on the web?

Not sure what you meant with "we don't need this bug", to get a shipping Bosnian Firefox, we'll need a registration bug (and many more to come, see https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Becoming_an_Official_Localization for details).
I didn't mean we don't need it at all, of course we need a registration bug, it's just we (the localization team) didn't use it in the meantime...
For localization job tracking, you can check narro (it's what we use for localization). If you have any other questions or anything else, please do email me ;)

Is Bosnian localization of Firefox scheduled to be released soon? I sent mail to Kerim few days ago but haven't received a reply. If no one is working on Bosnian localization I would gladly like to help in it's finalization but I need instructions. Please answer soon :)

Alexandru, I'm not exactly sure why 3.5RC1 offers an en-US.zip link and 3.6 offers a bs-BA.xpi link? Bosnian isn't on either the dashboard nor tinderbox. Not sure if that's a setting in narro or if just does that by default. Anyway, if there's a way to get something testable for 3.5 out of narro, could you point at instructions on how to get those? Thanks.
Sometimes the bi-nightly build process that builds the xpi fails, that's why there wasn't an xpi, it's there now.

Could somebody give me reviewers status for Bosnian locale? There are several thousands of suggestions but nobody hasn't reviewed them in the past 2 months. There is already one reviewer (Kerim) but it seems that he isn't active.

as I wrote you in the email, I am not the one that does the review, but two professors of bosnian language from University of Sarajevo. I just do the translation work and coordinate the project.
