How about upgrading to 1.5.0.7
Works for me using Firefox 1.5.0.7 and 2.0b2 on Linux.
Severity: normal → critical
Reporter, please upgrade to Firefox 1.5.0.7 or newer and let us know if that helps.
Hi, at the moment I have 1.5.0.4 but I cannot upgrade right now since I'm a network user and I don't have the authority. I'll check as soon as 1.5.0.7 is installed. The problem still persists and I noticed the follwing message in my shell after the crash: The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 56445 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Hi, I'm using Firefox 2.0 now and the bug is still there. The problem is absolutely not resolved. I want to note that Opera and Netscape both do NOT crash when accessing this site. Here's the shell message again when it crashes: The program 'firefox-bin' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadAlloc (insufficient resources for operation)'. (Details: serial 25462 error_code 11 request_code 53 minor_code 0) (Note to programmers: bla bla bla...)
Just as a note, I'm using KDE 3.5.1 on SunOS 5.8 Generic_117350-39 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-1500 (uname -a)
Works for me in a Firefox trunk debug build on Solaris 10/i386 (under VMWare). It would help a lot if you could produce a stack backtrace when the X error occurs - see the attachments in bug 368507 for example. Also, does the bug occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? (it temporarily disables plugins and add-ons, this test will help us narrow down the cause of the problem) -- See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_Mode
Works for me also in Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS i86pc; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061009 Firefox/2.0 on Solaris Nevada snv_46 X86(GNOME). Actually I just get "We are sorry, but the offer you have requested is not available" for the link and jumping around the website "www.swiss.com" doesn't crash my Firefox. Could you reproduce the problem on CDE for Solaris 8?
On my Sun Workstation I'm not able to do a backtrace because a program named 'mktemp' is missing (and I'm not able to install that). However we have some Linux AMD machines in our network where mktemp is installed. Unfortunately, Firefox 2.0 is not available there. But Firefox 1.5.0.3 is installed, and it crashes when accessing www.swiss.com/bso.htm. I was able to do the backtrace there, as described in bug 368507. This might be useful for you. (See attachment)
this is not a crash.
Severity: critical → normal
Summary: Firefox closes (crashes) when I want to access this page. Repeatable. → Firefox quits when I want to access this page.
