35366 - Crash following image link from mail when browser closed.

Using 2000-04-10-09m15 commercial build linux rh6.0
Using 2000-04-10-10m15 commerical build mac OS 9.0
Haven't seen on NT 4.0

This doesn't happen each and every time, but while verifying bug #30790 I
crashed several times when following an image link from the mail window when
there was no browser window open.

Submitted linux and mac talkbacks, waiting for access to cyclone. Will attach
reports when I can get through.

1.  Go to mail window, login to mail account (I used IMAP account).
2.  Close any browser windows which may be open.
3.  Send yourselft a mail message with an image url. I used this one:
    http://clubinfo.enpc.fr/~bugnon/img/escher/escher07.jpg
4.  Get the message, select it and click on the link in the mail message pane.

Result:  sometimes a crash occurs following link.

nsHTTPPipelinedRequest::GetCurrentRequest()


Laurel, can you also attach the url for the image you are using? maybe there is
something special there.

Put image url in the URL line, although it is also in the original description.

I can't reproduce it so far. Also if you look into MAC's stack trace - it's 
somewhere else then networking.

Seems to be working OK after many tries using apr19 commercial builds on linux
rh6.0 and mac OS 9.0.

Hmmm... I take that back.   It worked for a lot of tries, then after I closed
the bug report it happened again and I can recreate it on linux 2000-04-19-11m16
commercial build. I submitted Talkback reports and will provide them here  in a
minute, but here's how I got there:

1.  Launched to browser, opened mail window.
2.  Closed browser window.
3.  went to mail window, logged into mail account and displayed the message
which contained the image link. Followed the link, it opened in browser window.
4.  Closed browser window.
5.  Followed link again from mail message.
    Result:  second time following the link crashed.

I still can't reproduce it. Could you do me a favor: Set up the following 
env. variables:

NSPR_LOG_FILE=some_place
NSPR_LOG_MODULES=nsHTTPProtocol:5,nsSocketTransport:5

and if you see the crash again - send me that log, ok?

I still can crash and I set the variables you asked for.  The log file is
present but is empty.

I set the variables in the console window by setenv <your strings> (each on
separate command line, then started netscape6.  Do I need to do it some other
way?

Ok. I've been tourchering it the way described for a while and I've not seen a 
single crash on debug build. I have seen however some weirdness when you hit 
reload on the page in the window, followed from the mail client. It'll always 
report an error and as I can tell there's a Cancel coming out of somewhere where 
 I don't think there should be any. Does this behavior exist in today's build. 
I've a debug build from today's morning.
