STR:

1. Download the Alpha1 UB build.
2. Change the channel to betatest
3. Check for updates.
4. Download the update, and then hit "later"
5. Hand edit the updates failed, changing it from "pending" to "failed"

Restart Firefox.

Instead of getting the customary "Partial failed" dialog, FF starts the whole process over again and wants me to download the update again.
When I try to start the update process again, the dialog freezes.
For the a1, a2, a3, and b1 updates, they're the standard "partial is actually a complete" update.

This sounds like it's a problem in the client code, which is more Darin's arena.

Are you seeing this with any other builds?

This also may have something to do with the fact that a1 was PPC, and the (complete) updates are Universal.
preed: I was able to successfully update from some of the other releases - see http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:2.0_QA_Activities:RC1SU_Results#marcia for the full list,.

The last time I tested, I was going from the Alpha1UB, so I have not actually tested going from the Alpha1 PPC build to the RC1 UB.

resolving this one as invalid. I filed a bug on this when we were testing Beta2 as well, so it appears it was confined to Alpha1 since during RC1 testing we were not able to reproduce the probem with Alpha 2 or Alpha 3.
really marking invalid this time, sorry for the bugspam.
