fresh install of Firefox2.0RC1 on OSX Intel 10.4.7
any attempt to either 'save as' or 'open file...' results in
the 'spinning beachball of death' forever, requiring an eventual force-quit

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. load a web page
2. choose 'save as'
3. watch the beachball

Actual Results:  
spinning beachball appears and stays
filepicker fails to open

Expected Results:  
filepicker should open

Simon: I am not able to reproduce this using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7.

nope - only the ones that came with it i.e. DOM Inspector and TalkBack.

I will strip out everything again tomorrow morning and do it all fresh again - just in attempt to replicate this bug from scratch again.

verified works for me with  Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/200707190404 Minefield/3.0a7pre

Filepicker works as expected -> verified
