User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060918 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060918 Firefox/2.0
I have set http://www.google.it/ as my home page, and Firefox is set to show my home page when it starts.
So, when I launch Firefox, the home page loads, but it is incorrectly displayed: the Google logo appears at the top right, even overlapping the tab bar. I'll attach a screenshot.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. set http://www.google.it/ as your home page, and set Firefox to show your home page when started;
2. quit Firefox;
3. start Firefox again and look.
Actual Results:
The google.it page was shown, with the Google logo in a wrong position.
Expected Results:
The google.it page should have been shown correctly.
I'm actually using OS 10.4.7, but the bug report form does not offer choices over 10.3.
The same page shows perfectly if I load it "by hand" after Firefox is already started; the problem occurs only if loading it automatically during startup.
This is a clean profile, no extensions, I've just started playing around with Fx 2rc1.
Actually, I noticed something similar once with a different home page, too (http://www.libero.it/): Fx's progress indicator (the little grey wheel) was shown somewhere in the upper part of the page. But I couldn't reproduce it anymore with any other page, while it happens at every startup if my home page is www.google.it.
I didn't test it with google.com because by default it brings me back to google.it. Now that I think about it... I'll try it soon after filing the bug, by changing my language preferences in Fx.
Oh, and as you can see, my Google home page is the default one, I didn't customize it.

Ok, I could reproduce it with the English Google home page too, by setting http://www.google.com/intl/en/ as my home page in Firefox. I get exactly the same display problem.
BTW, I now changed the OS to 10.4, because this choice is available in the bug display/update page. But remember that it is not available in the bug report page, this should be fixed.

Marco: I am not able to reproduce this issue on my Mac using Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20060918 Firefox/2.0.

Hi Marcia, I did more tests and I think you must activate the "Tabs" -> "Always show the tab bar" option in Preferences to make this bug show up.
To be sure, I deleted Firefox.app from the Applications folder, copied it again in there from the original disk image, then created a new profile, and only changed two things in this new profile:
1. I set my home page to http://www.google.com/intl/en/ ;
2. I activated the forementioned option.
This was enough to make the bug occur at every Fx startup.

The bug is still here on MacOS 10.4.8 and Firefox 2.0 RC2
Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; it; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061003 Firefox/2.0
Sometimes it shows a somehow different behaviour, as in the new attachment I'm going to add now, where the Google logo is fine but there's a progress indicator stuck on the tab bar. Anyway 99% of the time the Google logo is not positioned correctly.

I have encountered the same bug in 10.4.8. The rendering error occurs always on Firefox startup. I have reproduced the same bug on multiple machines. A similar rendering error occurs on the 'Personalized' Google home page, with the smaller Google logo image appearing in a similar position.
Although a page refresh will correct the display error, navigating to another site before refreshing the Google page will sometimes leave visual artifacts of the Google logo between the tab bar and the navigation toolbar.
