Created new profile but can't import my saved personal address book into default Personal Folder in the new profile. My Address book has 2,500 entries including mailing lists that are time consuming to create. Because default Personal Folder is not my actual Personal Address folder, it is annoying that it always opens the default empty folder first. Default Personal Folder can't be renamed or deleted.  Also despite turning off the Collected Addresses feature. Everytine I send out an email the email address is stored in the default Personal Folder not the Collected Addresses folder.  I have to periodically clean the Personal Folder out of the duplicate cards it has created (these are incomplete cards unlike the ones in my actual Personal Address folder). Creating a new profile did nothing to solve this problem and actually it took me a long time to recreate the customized functionality back that I had with my old profile.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open Thunderbird
2.Open Addressbook
3.Wait

Actual Results:  
I am not a techie. I have an IMAP mail account with local storage of sent mail.

Expected Results:  
I would like to open Thunderbird and the addressbook and have them load within a minute or two. I would prefer to have my preferred addressbook be the default.

With your original profile, try doing what I suggest in the message dated Sun, Jul 23 2006 7:55 am when looking at the following link:

Basically there is a know bug where many redundant address book entries can build up in the preferences. We've stopped it happening, but haven't yet been able to provide a fix to remove the redundant entries.

Please report back here when you have done that so that we know if it has resolved your problem or not. If it does, then this bug is the same as bug 230580.

The techie who manages our systems followed the steps outlined in comment #1. My addressbook is loading in a reasonable time today.  What about the issues of not being able to import my saved Personal Addressbook into the Personal Addressbook folder?  Why is the default (and empty) Personal Addressbook collecting email addresses from the emails I send out?

Not being able to import saved pab is bug 121725, the default for the collected addresses going to the PAB is bug 263580 (and others I believe.

Therefore I'm resolving this as a duplicate of bug 230580 as that was the main problem you raised in this case. Normally we only have one issue per bug raised.
