User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Moving Bookmark in Bookmarks sidebar causes the entire list of bookmarks to move. This is visually jarring and makes it difficult to find the bookmark that was just moved. If the bookmark is moved higher in the list, only the list below the new location of the bookmark should change, in so much as it shifts down one position to accomadate the moved bookmark. If the bookmark is moved lower, only the portion of the list between the old location and the new location should shift up by one position. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create at a list of bookmarks that is longer than can be shown on the screen. 2. Move a bookmark up or down in the list. Actual Results: The list is refreshed and moved in an arbitrary way, such that the bookmark that was just moved is no longer under the location where it was moved to. Expected Results: The list would shift appropriately and the bookmark would remain under the pointer.

Does this happen in firefox's safemode? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode Or in a new profile? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager (export your bookmarks from your current profile via Bookmarks > Manage Bookmarks, File > Export, and then import to the new profile and then test)

I didn't try this in safe mode. It does happen with a new profile. It took a bit of work, but I figured out the exact circumstances that this happens in. The revised reproduction case is: Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create at a list of bookmarks that is longer than can be shown on the screen. 2. Create a folder and place it LAST in the list. 3. Add several items to the folder. 4. Expand the folder to display it's contents. 5. Since the bookmark list is longer than can be displayed in one screen, scroll down so you can see the contents of the folder. 6. Click and drag a bookmark out of the folder to somewhere above it in the boomark list. There may be other cases where this happens, but this is the most specific case I have.
