User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.4) Gecko/20060508 Firefox/1.5.0.4 How is the user supposed to follow the suggestion if they don't know where it is and even a Windows search doesn't find it? I read in another bug that it's in a hidden folder, but it didn't say where. Also, it would be really nice if this popup had a button to "Stop". When downloading thousands of emails, popping the message up after every one (when 90% of them have filter rules that call them spam :-) ) gets a bit excessive and there's no chance to click the Stop button at the top before another error dialog comes up. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Corrupt your inbox.msf somehow (no idea how it got in this state) 2. Download mail 3. Actual Results: Error dialog suggesting to close thunderbird and delete inbox.msf Expected Results: Error dialog suggesting to close thunderbird and delete c:\where\ever\it\is\inbox.inf
Version 1.5.0.7 (20060909). Checking for updates told me there are none, so probably latest "stable" release.
Version: unspecified → 1.5
I see my suggestion about adding a Stop button to this popup is already logged as Bug 325491 I also found a web site that explains that the .msf files are (for Windows XP) in c:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\<somerandomname>\Mail\<mail account name> It would just be nice if the popup would tell the user that.
Maybe we should replace that warning with some reference to the new "Recreate Summary File" button in upcoming Thunderbird 2.0 (when right-clicking on a folder and on Properties...).
Reporter, does the issue still occur in the latest supported 2.0.0.x / Shredder trunk nightlies? (1.5.0.x is now end-of-life and the latest supported 2.0.0.x is now 2.0.0.16)
