This is a spin-off from bug 306173, which was fixed on the trunk, but not on the 1.8 branch. So opening this new bug, in case it can be fixed on the branch after Fx 2.0 is released.

The caret, when present in a text box/field, remains drawn when switching to a new tab. This depends on whether it was visible or not (as it blinks) at the time the tab was switched. It doesn't blink in the new tab...

Steps to reproduce:
- Open a tab with a text box (such as the page for this bug)
- Place the cursor in the text box, so that the blinking caret appears
- Open a new tab
- If done while the caret is visible, it'll appear on the fresh tab

The trunk was fixed by the fix for bug 287813, however that was not considered stable enough for the branch. I guess a less-risky hack would be needed.
