When firefox is called from the shell it there are lines and lines of warnings and
reported leaks (memory leaks?).  When firefox is called manually at the command shell (say in an xterm window) this doesn't otherwise affect browser functionality. However, when firefox is opened in a command shell as the result of a program (I do this alot in R, an interactive statistical package) the above results are serious enough to result in the browser not being opened at all.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.open xterm window
2.enter the command 'firefox &'

You appear to be running a debug build of firefox which unless you know what you are doing is not recommended for normal use. It is quite normal for debug builds to spout lots of information including errors and warnings.

I suggest you install a non-debug build.

The last SUSE update of Firefox contained a debug build by error.
