Build Identifier: 

Download gives the box of choices, only choice is "save to disk". 
Does not offer "run". Click OK, box goes away, nothing happens.
  Also, File<Save as< does not save.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.click download
2.get box which offers only 'save to disk'
3.click OK or whatever, get nothing. Box goes away

Actual Results:  
nothing

Expected Results:  
download box should offer 'run', and do it.

BOX SHOULD SAY "RUN THIS FILE"
Also, if you click FILE, SAVE AS, offers 'to documents', no 'to pictures', then DOES NOT SAVE. I have to copy and paste to WORD or an e-mail.

This generally happens because the web server is telling Firefox bad information about the file's type.

Can you point to the file you are trying to open?

ANY FILE, ANY DOWNLOAD. HAVE TO USE IE, WHICH IS INCONVENIENT. (AND WORKS)

P.S.---JUST FOUND YOUR MESSAGES, THANKS FOR TRYING. (I don't understand the answer setup, got lost and responded to wrong link) If you have other ideas please send.

Please can you answer the question in comment 1. Give the address of a file you are trying to download that is causing this problem.

Dear mossop: re. your last of nov 30:
As previously mentioned, NOTHING DOWNLOADS.
HERE ARE TWO EXAMPLES:
Most recent examples: Firefox 2.0;address would be 'Download Firefox 2.0 '  Also - 'Dell analog devices AD1885 Integrated audio, openingR45973.exe '-(Attempt to dn load a device)

  (Maybe I can get IE to DL FF 2.0, Or maybe go back to IE, if I can get my extensions moved. The email I got was so poorly set up that I replied to Townsend twice by clicking mossup bugzilla.) 

Firefox opened the box with choices; "what should firefox do with this--"  The only one that would accept a choice was "save to disk". When I click 'OK', box disappears, nothing happens.

This is a major pain. Sometimes I can get around it by pasting to Word, which then uses IE, which works(In reply to comment #4)
