getting a dialog box that says "Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."

Hi,
I am getting this dialog box when I start Firefox.
"Firefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
I restarted my system thrice and also, the process doesn't appear in the Task Manager. I installed the application again, but to no avail.
Pls advise.

The profile lock in your profile must've not been deleted. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_in_use for how to fix this. ->INVALID

This error message should be fixed and report exactly what is wrong,
instead of the ambiguous/erroneous "another instance is running."
Linking to the knowledgebase entry from the dialog would be helpful
as well. A generic mechanism of feeding the dialog text or corresponding
ERRNO to kb.mozillazine or some such could avoid duplicate bug filings,
and save users time/effort as well.
