User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051118 Firefox/1.5
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051118 Firefox/1.5
It installed fine on Thunderbird version 1.5 (20060113)
Everything displays correctly but when I try to create an event, nothing
happens, IOW the create event dialog does not appear.
I upgraded to 1.5.0.7 but the problem is still there
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. RMB anywhere in the calendar view
2. Select "event"
3. nothing happens
Actual Results:
event window does not appear, TB runs fine, IOW does not crash
Expected Results:
Event window should open
Also discovered that this menu item does not do anything:
Calendar > Go To Today
All the other items in the Calendar menu are working properly.
I have tried both plugins:
lightning-0.3.en-US.os2_libc05.xpi
and
lightning-0.3.en-US.os2.xpi
Same problem with both.

Whiteboard: [qa discussion needed]
Bart,
Can you try with a recent 0.5pre Lightning build and tell us if you still experience the problem?

As we are not building pre-release versions of Lightning/Calendar on OS/2 it will be very unlikely that Bart can test his problem before a release...

Peter:
Could you attempt to reproduce this error in a released build and if you have the time and inclination, build from branch and try there? My OS/2 vm is not on this machine as my HD is full.

lilmatt: yes, I tried back when Bart reported it and now again (with Lightning 0.3 on TB 1.5.0.10 and a 2.0pre), and I cannot reproduce the problem. I have so many other things to do that I won't have time to build Lightning before Easter. :-( CCing Andy, perhaps he has more time.
Bart: adding comments unfortunately doesn't mean that it will get resolved...
I seem to remember discussing this with you somewhere else, but don't find that discussion anywhere. As it is not said in this bug report, do you see any errors on Thunderbird's JavaScript console (under Tools)?

Would a trunk build work on Thunderbird 1.5? If not I can build both from trunk but I don't have the HD space to pull a branch right now. I may not have time before this weekend but I hope to have time then.

No, a calendar build against trunk TB won't run with TB 1.5.x or 2.0pre. Oh, and I think it should be a GCC 3.2.2 build anyway...

I reinstalled the extension just now. Same problems of course. I checked the JS and there are errors:

OK, thanks Bart. The two saying "prefService.getBranch is not a function" seem to be a real problem. To me it looks like the nsIPrefService class could not be instantiated, but if that were the case you should have a lot more serious problems, even with the base program.

I fixed this in bug 362585.

Bart, Walter Meinl has now built a Lightning pre-release. See <http://lsvw.de/3.html> in case you can test. Although he notes that his version is still untested with TB 1.5.x...

Hi Peter
Should I upgrade to 2.0 before I try? Is 2.0 still beta?
Comment 15•18 years ago

If it doesn't work with 1.5.x then you will be told on installation. And no, TB 2.0 final was just release, for OS/2, too. See <http://www.mozilla.org/ports/os2/>.

WORKS NOW!
I also imported Canadian holidays. Address book integration does not appear to work. Emailing events does not work.
Printing results in print jobs with status "print spooling" forever, the jobs have to be deleted. (I think this is a known bug)
You can mark this FIXED!
