James, the issues you have filed cover various different problems in the address book. I'm marking this bug as invalid as it covers too many different items to be sensibly resolved in this one place. However most of your comments are already covered by other bugs. So I've annotated your comments with the details below. There are probably also other existing bugs I've missed as well.

I'd say we would WONTFIX this. The mozilla address book code supports different types of address book from different applications. If someone adds in a link to another address book, we can't enforce this. The closest to this request would be bug 45946.

Related to bug 339227. Do we do something like this with messages in mail? Otherwise I'd be tempted to Won't fix that. If we do do this in mail, then it should be raised as a separate bug.

I think this is the wrong way. You should be selecting the original card to take as the link target, and then deciding where you want to put the link. Probably would be wrapped up with bug 142379 if that gets implemented.

This would have to be part of bug 142379 for that bug to be resolved.
