User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.0.7) Gecko/20060909 Firefox/1.5.0.7 When using middle button (scroll wheel) to open new tab occasionally get two new windows instaed of one, conversely when closing one tab using middle button it closes second tab that has now appeared underneath (a bit like a debounce issue). Im thinking the tabopen() needs some kind of delay after all no human would really open or close multiple tabs so fast. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. using scroll mouse click with middle button to open new tab 2. get 2 new tabs for the price of one 3. click on tab with middle button in place where redraw will result in another tab, it gets caught by the close request. Expected Results: only one tab should open or close when middle button is pressed, perhaps with a .5 second delay before firefox sees another close request.
Windows XP S1 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 When I double click with the left mouse button (LMB), right next to an open tab in the tab-bar, I get two new tabs simultaneously, of which the last one gets focus. On double click: both tabs open simultaneously, focus on the last, focus on the fist, focus on the last. This happens in a second. When I click once on the tab-bar with LMB, the browser does not give me a tab.
Ive just checked with freshly download FF v2.0, this issue exists in this version too. This issue only occurs if using the middle button to do the closing (so far), left clicking the close [x] button that is now on each tab doesnt seem to trigger the same fault. I will test more.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.5 on Windows XP SP2 and am still experiencing the problem. This bug occurs (consistently) when one is clicking a link or tab, and moves the mouse between mousedown and mouseup. That is, if you move your mouse while clicking, you get a "twofer." It even works (ahem) if mousedown and mouseup occur over different targets. In fact, that way it's easy to get three or four tabs to open simultaneously.
WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b5) Gecko/2008032620 Firefox/3.0b5. I held down the middle mouse button on one link, dragged it across several other links, and then back to the original link, and only one tab opens, as expected. I tried moving the mouse in various other ways while holding down the middle mouse button, and I only ever opened one tab, assuming I returned to the original link before mouseup. Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 3 beta? If not, can you resolve this as WORKSFORME? Thanks.

I confirm this bug with the latest firefox public release but I can't reproduce it exactly. I noticed I have this one more frequently when I open much tabs. (forum / news website, ...) I have reproduced it twice on this page: http://x264.nl/ First middle click on the link "discussion" and while it is charging in the background middle click on "change log" (mirror 1) Btw: sorry for my english and I hope I am understable. My config: Software =>Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; fr; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070208 Firefox/3.0.1 Mouse =>Logitech Mx-300
Cosmik, can you reproduce the problem with a different mouse? Does the problem also occur in Firefox Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode

I will give a test with Firefox Safe Mode. It will need some time because this is not a so frequent bug. I think I have noticed this bug on my job (with another mouse) but I can't say for sure.
