I just d/l'ed Firefox 2.0rc3, and unfortunately, many extensions have not yet updated their maxVersion - even though it's fairly obvious that 2.0b1 and up also means 2.0rc3 compatibility. Sure, that isn't a certainty - but I'd like to try it anyway. Another scenario is when an extension stops being developped, so no one bumps the maxVersion even if it can be bumped up to the current release or to the trunk version.
So what I would like is a pref, which, when set to true, will allow non-disabled extensions to be run irrespective of the maxVersion (or maybe the minVersion as well). Possibly, before the first time a seemingly incompatible extension is enabled there can be a confirmation dialog, but that's just icing.

This already exists as implemented in bug 330895.
