Ya they're on a backup server. But your bloody browser can;t bloody import them. Thank god the old version is still on your server. God this **** sucks. You shipped this?? Do you know how many times Microsoft software BLEW AWAY my personal data?? ZERO **** TIMES. ZERO. So ya, go talk smug **** about Microsoft, and take Google's money. Just know that you don't hold a candle to Redmond's work. Reproducible: Always

It's hard for us to sympathize or help you if you can't tell us what actually happened. 1.5.0.x keeps it's own backups which it can import just fine. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Lost_bookmarks Furthermore, if your bookmarks are actually gone, reverting versions won't do anything. What version did you install that the bookmarks were lost? Please feel free to find me in #firefox on irc.mozilla.org my username is Lucy.

1) Think about your tone when requesting help from others! Describe your problem, what you expect, and write correct English! 2) Read http://www.mozilla.org/quality/bug-writing-guidelines.html when writing a bug! 3) Get end-user support at Mozillazine forums (http://forums.mozillazine.org/), but remember 1)! 4) I marked this bug as invalid

This bug isn't invalid, it's a dupe. I think we can forgive an emotional first post, especially considering how disastrous it would be if that many bookmarks WERE erased because of a new version. I think we can also at least at first assume that this person doesn't know how things around here work (if he did, he'd know about firefox's bookmarks backups) and give them a warning first. I don't think it takes much compassion at all to write off the first post as panic, and then react to any attitude that's left after the user realizes we're actually going to help him.

There's not a bug here to dupe against. the reporter can reopen when they give more information after they've calmed down.

Tracy - when you see an identifier with rv:1.8.0.7 and Firefox/2.0 it's a dupe of 357922. Either way it's been decided that when a reporter behaves inappropriately their report is invalid. They're welcome to refile with an actual report and steps to reproduce.
