User-Agent: Opera/9.02 (Macintosh; PPC Mac OS X; U; de) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 When trying to open any of the "Preferences...", "Downloads", "Add-ons", "Error Console" or "Page Info" windows either via the menu or by pressing the shortcut keys, nothing happens. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: None at all Expected Results: Opened the window Perhaps related to bug 357777 as I had to file that one, too. Happened occasionally with FF 1.5 but with 2.0 these windows have completely ceased to work.
WFM - all the items under Tools and Preferences open as expected. tested with - Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0 on Mac 10.4.8
As for 357777, there is a workaround by creating (and using, unfortunately) a new profile.
WFM. Since a new profile fixes the problem, this can probably be resolved as worksforme. It might also be an extension conflict.
It doesn't fix the problem, it works around the problem. Fixing it would mean I I were not forced to throw away my whole FF configuration. It is no extension conflict as the problem appears in safe mode, too. I'm currently trying to find out which files are causing the problem. This is not as easy as expected. prefs.js, prefs-1.js and search.rdf seem to be involved. search.rdf does not seem to be very important but the other two are the product of much work and a great deal of bad experiences.
As this bug and bug 357777 clearly have got the same cause (or two very similar causes) I will mark this one as a dublicate, even if the symptons are different. It makes no sense to discuss the same things in two locations. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 357777 ***
