Just downloaded Firefox 2.0 (excellent browser by the way), but the behavior is exhibited in previous versions of Firefox.
Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

Just updated to 2.0.0.5 and the behavior still exists as reported.
Does it do the same in firefox 2.0.0.5 if you make a new firefox profile? - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_manager (Do not delete your existing profile)
Yes, even with a brand-spanking new profile with nothing migrated or added.
Sigh. The same behavior (i.e., getting html source text) now happens for links to youtube (e.g., http://youtube.com/watch?v=f4B-r8KJhlE ) Do you need a separate bug opened for this?
Just tried it with 2.0.0.9. Behavior still exists with Mapquest. (Have not retried it with a clean profile.)
Are you using a proxy or something?
No, direct connect to the internet. I have a router and Zone Alarm. This started happening when I updated to 2.0, as described by the original poster. Once or twice it has resolved and given me the actual web page (after a very very very long time). I do not have this problem with mapquest if I use IE (blech). Comment #5 is no longer an issue. I clicked the link I posted and everything came up just fine.
Try turning off Zone Alarm temporarily and see if that makes it work. We have many reports where it turns out the problem is caused by Zone Alarm. (eg. bug 370351, bug 176008, bug 139053 etc)

Well, by golly, turning off Zone Alarm does make it work. I then restarted Zone Alarm, and tried the address for which I had already retrieved the map. I was able to retrieve it. But using another address, I was not able to. I guess Zone Alarm doesn't like Mapquest. I haven't had any problems with Google Maps. I don't suppose you have any idea whether the Zone Alarm people are aware of this problem?
(In reply to comment #10) > I don't suppose you have any idea whether the Zone Alarm people are aware of > this problem? I have no idea, but please report it as a bug to them. Hopefully it will lead to better support for Firefox if enough people complain about it. -> INVALID (bug is in Zone Alarm)

BTW, there is some additional info on http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firewalls regarding Zone Alarm that might help you work around the problem.
