From Bugzilla Helper:
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.01; Windows NT)
BuildID:    2000022820

Given a DIV with a semi-transparent GIF background, if the div is marked
display:none; and then display:inline;, the transparent areas of the GIF are
opaque black.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
Visit http://www.PleasantvilleVAC.org/matchen/test.html and click "Show";
notice the transparency. Now click "Hide" and then click "Show"; notice now
that the overlay is no longer transparent.

Actual Results: The transparency of the GIFs was lost

Expected Results: The transparency of the GIFs should be maintained
This seems to be working fine on Linux build 2000.04.16.06. It's either
Windows-only or has been fixed since M14 (which is 1 1/2 months old). Can you
try a new build and report back?
My mistake. Tested with nightly 2000041615. This is no longer a problem.
Sorry.
