Details
(Keywords: crash, Whiteboard: CLOSEME 07/14)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1) Gecko/20061010 Firefox/2.0
During browsing but otherwise in unspecified circumstances (perhaps when filling in some forms)Firefox crashes. Does not start Firefox bug reporting process. Only Windows bug procedure is invoked (unresponsive program). If attempt is made to restart Firefox, it fails (sand clock symbol for a few moments). Due to this, bug is extremely annoying. Ctrl-Alt-Del does not reveal presence of Firefox, but when Windows is stopped Windows offers close program screen for Firefox.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Unfortunately have not been able to work out exact reproduce procedure although occurrence is fairly regular.
2.
3.
I must register two gripes and I am writing them here because I do not know where else to write.
1. Bug reporting link in insufficiently prominent. I only found it in "Contact us" section.
2. More importantly, there is no legacy build available. Due to this I will be forced to reestablish a previous state from a disk image, costing me several hours of work.

For Support you can also use the Mozillazine Forums http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewforum.php?f=38

After reporting the problem I uninstalled Firefox 2.0; however, after your note I reinstalled it and checked whether Talkback was installed (yes), although I had to enable it by hand. Soon an incident of the nature I reported arose while browsing the page http://www.economist.com/obituary/displaystory.dfm?story_id=8166910 . Actually Firefox simply became unresponsive; however talkback was not activated?!

SOME ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE PROBLEM
- Program becomes unresponsive (this is noted on title line). Unfortunately,
still cannot reliably reproduce sequence of steps leading up to the situation
- Task manager reveals TWO instances of Firefox in the "Applications" section
(where there was originally only one)
- "End Task" in Task Manager kills both instances at once with Windows message
about unresponsive task ("This program is not responding ...")
- However, even after tasks are killed, the "Processes"
section of the Task Manager often still contains an additional instance of
firefox.exe
- The puzzling thing is that Talkback is not activated

Reporter, do you still see this problem with the latest Firefox 2? If not, can you please close this bug as WORKSFORME. Thanks!

I am happy to report that the bug has apparently been fixed (currently using F. version 2.0.0.4).
