Penelope currently allows for un-modified keys to activate buttons in dialogs. Would be nice if this behavior were optional and could be set to require the command key to prevent 'accidentally' activating a button in a dialog.

agreed...when we sort columns by sender, it's not possible to quickly jump to emails from names beginning with "m" because "m" simply marks/unmarks the message. wonky behavior - definitely against standard apple gui guidelines.

this should be listed as a bug. un-modified key commands go against all gui guidelines and cause disruption in workflow. for instance, if you sort mailbox by sender, the standard behavior for hitting "m" key is for the cursor to jump to mail received from senders who's name/address begins with the letter "m"...instead, mail is marked/unmarked. -don

This was implemented in Eudora 8 beta 1/Penelope 0.1a21. The type-to-select feature (see bug 359271) to a certain extent solves this problem, but also in the Penelope pref panel there is an option to use Penelope or Thunderbird shortcuts. The default is to use Penelope shortcuts, and so the unmodified shorcuts are not active.
